Every year, as part of our Christmas decorations, Donald strings icicle lights around the deck. Tonight, I was sitting on the couch talking to my sister on the phone. I glanced out the windows and noticed a perfect hand print in the size of a small child perfectly framed by the lights. I couldn't help but smile.

I don't know if I ever told you about Patrick's goodie bag at Christmas. Last year, when he was brand new, we all wanted to buy him everything in the world. I came up with the idea of a goodie bag, where I could give him things like books and little toys. My mother made the bag, my sister wrote his name, and my mother embroidered over her writing. This year, the bag contained books, a portable potty, a dinner plate, two pairs of pajamas, a UNCC hoodie, and Norm the Niner toy. He's one lucky boy to have three sets of grandparents.

I stayed up late Saturday night watching a movie. Of course, the next morning Thug decided to wake up at 5:30, and get me up with him. One of the best parts of getting up so early is seeing a sunrise like this. I wish the iPhone had captured the true beauty.

Once upon a time, Donald lived in Wisconsin when he was working for Eaton. Dottie and Liz were little girls then. While they were there, they were introduced to cheese curds. I found these at our local general store tonight. Guess what? They taste like cheese.

Yesterday was a good picture taking day. I wanted to share another one that I liked. This was taken on the Crystal Pier at Wrightsville Beach. It has been battered by storms so much that it is starting to buckle, which you can see. All the birds seem to know they can hang out at the end without anyone bothering them.

We made the annual trip to Enchanted Airlie tonight. After two years of trying to get good pictures, I gave up and just took photos with my phone. I guess that is the secret because I really like how this one turned out!
