Snow in Raleigh today! Donald and I took a walk to the lake. The woods were absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. I really liked how snow lined all the branches in the trees. If you look closely, you can see snowflakes coming down in the picture.

I went for a walk around the block today thinking I might find some interesting things to take pictures of. What I found was a stand of baby pine trees. I also created a new rule for myself. From here on out, all pictures must be taken with manual settings. I will never learn how to use them if I don't go for it. Aperture was set at f14 for this one.

Jan. 1

I read a blog this morning about creating a photo journal, where you take a photo a day for a year. I thought this was a great idea, so here goes. Let's see if I stick with it. Today's picture:

It is very cold outside, it was 22 this morning when I got up at 6. Donald and I took a ride to the lake to start this project. My idea was to take some great landscape shots to start the year. Then, when we got home, we decided it was cold enough to build a fire. Donald had to split some wood first. I thought this was more fitting for today's photo, since this is a representation of our everyday life.
