Day 118 of 365. Alas, I had to return to work on Friday to attend a district wide workshop that had been planned for a while. You don't realize how tiring it is to sit all day until you have to do it yourself. I enjoyed some time Friday evening sitting outside, just listening to the neighborhood sounds. These two big oak trees are in our front yard. Two different varieties, and one puts out leaves so much earlier than the other.

Day 115 of 365. It is Tuesday night. All day long I have had a unsettled feeling that I can't explain. It is not a feeling that something is wrong, just something is not quite right. The feeling was strong enough for me to go ahead and pack my suitcase in case we got a call from Dottie that Baby J was on his way. So, I listened to myself and packed my bag.

Day 114 of 365. It has rained and rained and rained, and then it has rained more. We always seem to go through this here in NC. We get drought like conditions, and then we make up for the deficit all at one time. In any event, I don't really need a weather forecast to tell me when it's damp outside. All I need is frizzy hair.

Day 111 of 365. April 21 has always been an important day in our family. It would have been my parents 61st wedding anniversary had my father not passed away in 2000. It is also my aunt's birthday. Today she celebrated number 84! I typically go to her house almost every day after work and help put the horse up in the afternoon. There are some barn cats that also get fed when the horse does. These two couldn't figure out what to eat first, or how to get out of the way of each other.

Day 109 of 365. My goodness! I got a little behind on making my posts. I assure you I have been taking photos each and every day, and even uploading the to my Flickr account. But, I have neglected writing about them. So I am in catch up mode today (Sunday).
Wednesday night while Donald and I were eating supper, Jolly Mon made us laugh and laugh. He loves to sit by the open door and look outside. This time he appears to be raising his hand.

Day 108 of 365. I spent the first 23 years of my education career working at the elementary school level. The last four have been in high school. The thing about high school is they do some really cool stuff in biology. The kids have been working with E. Coli, and genetically modified it with jellyfish DNA to glow in the dark.

Day 105 of 365. We had so much fun today! One of my old co-workers is retiring, so we took the opportunity to have a mini reunion. These are some of the best people I know, and even though I love where I work now, I know I will never have a work family like that again.
This photo captures just a glimpse of the coolness of the day, Granddaddy fishing with his two best buddies.

Day 103 of 365. The first time I stepped on this stage I was in 7th grade and it was our first band concert. I played the clarinet, and my best friend and I played a duet together. I'm certain it was pretty bad, but everyone clapped anyway. Now, I am lucky enough to work in the school where I attended middle school and my father attended high school. It is an alternative education program now. I believe it was built sometime in the 20s, and the architecture is truly beautiful.

Day 100 of 365. Wow! I made it 100 days! I tried my hardest to think of something special to post for this occasion, but I just could not come up with a good idea. Then, I went out to the farm and found the perfect option. These little kittens were just born on Sunday! While I don't think we need any more farm cats, they sure are cute.

Day 97 of 365. We had another field trip today. This time it was a college visit, and we went to UNC Charlotte, my alma mater. Of course it looks very different now than it did when I was there in the early 1980s, but there are some very exciting things going on, like construction of this light rail.

Day 96 of 365. This school has been a part of Concord for a long, long time. My father attended high school in this building, by the time I came along it was Concord Middle School, and now it houses The Opportunity School (our alternative education program). I am here one day each week. When I first found out I was going to be working in this location, I made a visit. Surprisingly, I still remembered my way around, down to which teachers were in which classrooms, even though I hadn't stepped foot the building since 1977.

Day 94 of 365. Today's location is brought to you by Gypsy, the horse. Almost every day after work I head to my aunt's house in Salisbury. I help her do a few things such as grocery shopping and paying bills. But the part of my duties I like the best is putting the horse up on my way home. I was never around horses growing up so this is fun for me. And this horse is really nothing but a big dog. She has learned my car, and will talk to me until I crawl through the fence. I feed her treats, and she nuzzles my cheek. We don't know exactly how old she is, as she was a rescue horse but our best guess is somewhere between 10 and 15.

Day 93 of 365. What I learned last week is that I do better if I have a focus for pictures. I chose blooms and blossoms last week as my theme. This week I have selected "locations". So today's photo is of the RCCC South Campus. This location houses the Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College High School, and I am here two days a week. I had to leave a little early to make it to the Tech Center before everyone left. I picked the exact wrong time to leave. It was POURING rain. And not just pouring, but the rain was going sideways. It's hard to tell that in this photo, but let me assure you I was soaking wet when I got to the car.
