Day 161 of 365, Saturday. We had so much fun hanging out with these guys today. Patrick and Ellie played and played, Jackson spent most of his time napping, Dottie enjoyed having extra hands to help wrangle busy children, Donald and I soaked it all in.

Day 149 of 365, Monday. We had the perfect end to a long weekend today. Instead of driving straight to Concord after leaving Wilmington, we took a detour through Raleigh. Here is a small snippet of the fun we all had.

Day 105 of 365. We had so much fun today! One of my old co-workers is retiring, so we took the opportunity to have a mini reunion. These are some of the best people I know, and even though I love where I work now, I know I will never have a work family like that again.

This photo captures just a glimpse of the coolness of the day, Granddaddy fishing with his two best buddies.

Day 63 of 365. We celebrated two birthdays today! Both Liz and Keith have birthdays on March 8 and both of them have an intense love of oysters. So, Linda and Keith were able to bring some good ones from Wilmington and we had a mini oyster roast at the house in Raleigh.

Day 62 of 365. One of the things I learned about at my conference is a Marvel comics website where kids can create their own superhero. Patrick LOVES superheroes so of course I wanted to show him. What I didn't think about is that even though he is quite literate using a phone or tablet device, he has had little experience using a laptop computer. It turned into a quick lesson on how to use the track pad, clicking the mouse, and using two fingers to click and drag an object around. In true fashion, he mastered it quickly.

Day 60 of 365. I'm in Raleigh for my annual technology conference. I look forward to this every year, not only to see what is new in instructional technology, but to reconnect with old friends. An added bonus is I get to see these kiddos.

Day 35 of 365. When Donald and I got married in 2003, I gained two teenage bonus daughters. Want to know the best part about that? They keep giving me more people to love.

Day 25 of 365. Back in the fall, my mother started noticing a change in her vision. A trip to the eye doctor revealed she had an occluded vein that was causing fluid to pool in her retina. As a result, she has lost most of the vision in her left eye. The good news is that she is responding quite well to the treatment of injections in her eye. We go once a month, and today I snapped this photo of the pre-exam before seeing the doctor.

Day 14 of 365. Today is Dottie's birthday! We celebrated by taking her to a hockey game, and as luck would have it, it was Star Wars night! We all got a t-shirt, and Patrick made it on the jumbotron! All in all, it was a great night.

As it turns out, I have missed taking photos. I can't promise I will keep this up, but for now I'm going to give it the old college try. Going back through past years, this photo a day project turned out to be a pretty cool way to document our every day lives.

So today, Donald and I woke up in Raleigh, packed our things and headed back to Concord after a week long visit. Coming home, I took a detour through Salisbury to buy Aunt Frankie some medicine, then we went to my mother's for the traditional New Year's meal. We are both now relaxing on the sofa, with Jolly Mon between us. Happy New Year!
