Day 57 of 365. Lately I've been conscious of what I eat, and just exactly how many preservatives are in our food. I try to make my own things whenever I can, and vanilla extract was on the list of things to make today. I got some cheap vodka and some Mexican vanilla beans, mixed them together in a glass jar and now all I do is wait. It will probably take several months for it to be fully ready, but my goodness it smells good!

Day 56 of 365. I have mentioned the unseasonably warm winter we are having. When Donald and I woke up this morning we decided it was the perfect day for a trip up to Blowing Rock. We didn't do much while we were there, just had lunch at our favorite spot and drove around a bit. It was nice to get away and have a change of scenery.

Day 55 of 365. Today is a much different day than yesterday. I was able to come home straight after work, which is unusual these days. Since it was such a warm and beautiful day, Donald and I were able to enjoy a little outside time. I'm not sure where my love of Club Soda came from, but I find it quite refreshing and I feel like I am giving myself a treat.

Day 54 of 365. It's Thursday. My work day was a good one, but after work simple tasks seemed to take forever. A quick trip into WalMart turned into an hour, a quick trip to Food Lion turned into 30 minutes. By the time I got home, it was already 7:00, and we had no idea what to eat for supper. Thank goodness I do Sunday meal prep every now and then. We pulled some chicken enchiladas out of the freezer, added some corn and there you have it, a fairly well balanced home cooked meal.

Day 50 of 365. We have a guest photographer today! As I mentioned earlier, Donald and I bought a refrigerator. That meant we needed to do something with the old refrigerator. We decided it would be best to take that one to Raleigh to use as the garage fridge, and take the current garage fridge to Wilmington to replace the old one there. So, Donald loaded up the trailer and took off for Raleigh. It appears he had a hitch hiker!

Day 49 of 365. Today was a ridiculously busy day for a Saturday. Donald and I have been watching refrigerators at the Sears Outlet, waiting on the prices to drop low enough that we feel it is a good deal. It finally reached the mark! We worked all morning getting the kitchen ready for the new appliance, and after we picked it up, then there was more work to get it in place. But, we now have a new fridge, slightly bigger than the old one.
After all that, it was Hobo supper at church. Leaving, we looked to the east, opposite of where the sun was setting, and there it was. A full rainbow over Concord. Life is good indeed.

Day 48 of 365. It finally happened. I neglected to take a picture today. So I don't lose momentum, I'll give a synopsis of what my day was like. Donald has been out of town for two nights, so I woke up excited that he would be coming home today. At work, the juniors at the Early College had to complete their pre-ACT background information and for the first time everything is online. We did four sessions with the juniors, and each session lasted 45 minutes to an hour. Once the last session ended, I headed over to Cabarrus Tech for the last few minutes of the day to see what students in my Cobratronics club were doing. I was pleased that they all followed my directions and completed what they were supposed to complete. Lastly, Donald and I have had our eye on a refrigerator at the Sears Outlet. They finally dropped the price enough for our budget, so we bought it! We'll go get it sometime this weekend.
There you have it.
There you have it.

Day 47 of 365. When I was growing up, Concord was a small town that wasn't even considered a suburb of Charlotte. Things have certainly changed over the years. When we moved back after living in Raleigh for 10 years, I was amazed at how much my little town had grown. Today it took me 20 minutes to get from McGill Avenue to the hospital area. Normally it would take five or less.

Day 34 of 365. One of the many reasons I love my job is that I get to work with some pretty awesome kids. This group emailed me last week and asked for some ideas to spice up their ecosystem project in biology. I happily met with them and shared a few things. Nothing makes me prouder than seeing them take my ideas and far surpass my expectations.

Day 31 of 2017. I have made it one entire month! Today was another marathon work day for me. We are in the midst of student interviews, which we conduct in the evenings. Leaving work at 8:45, I looked up and saw a beautiful crescent moon. This picture does not do it justice, but the best I could do with my iPhone.
