I will certainly be glad when Halloween is over. The leftover candy is going to work so I will stop eating it.

A few months ago, one of my online friends held a little contest where you had to guess the number of bread ties he had accumulated over the course of a year. I was one of two people to come the closest, and my prize arrived today! He's a photographer in Australia and this is one of his shots he had made into a postcard. I think it's pretty cool.

Liz came by today and brought her sewing with her. She's an art major at UNCC, and this is her latest project. She has pretty much self taught herself to sew, with the help of YouTube. This project is a costume based on a Japanese Vocaloid (voice synthesizing program) character, Luka Megurine, that is an octopus. She created the pattern herself and is not quite finished but you can see how talented she is.

This past week was Red Ribbon Week in our school system. It's basically a week of learning about "Just Say No". One of my schools had an assembly this afternoon, and the high school cheerleaders made a guest appearance. Needless to say, the elementary kids thought they were way cool.

It's beginning to look a lot like fall around here. These Bradford Pears by our shopping center are always the first to bloom in spring, and the first to change color in the fall. The picture doesn't do them justice because they are a brilliant red. You can't help but notice them and smile.

I did something new today; I cooked a pumpkin. It was easier than you may think. The hardest part was cutting it in half before utting it in the oven. I have a whole new respect for our ancestors.

My friend Lesley is leaving our district to work in another school system. Because she is herself, we all got a goodbye gift. I love my fun frog!

I guess it was inevitable. I am having to start allergy shots again. It got to the point where antihistamines just weren't doing the trick for me anymore, so after about 6 months of trying different things, here I am, at the allergy doctor, waiting on shots.

Clifford the Big Red Dog visited the local fire department today. I'm working on a project for some young children about fire safety, and thought this would be something fun for them to see.

I have avoided this subject all weekend. Thug is not well. As a matter of fact, on Friday we weren't sure if he would make through the weekend or not. I took him to the vet Friday night, he wound up having some x-rays and while they weren't conclusive, it looks like he has some neurological damage that is affecting his ability to walk. He is very unsteady on his feet, and will fall easily. Sometimes his back legs just give out on him, and sometimes his front legs fail and he does a face plant. We've got him on a serious pain medication, and he will start steroids tomorrow. We can tell he doesn't feel well, but he's still eating, drinking, and doing the other things that dogs do. He gets tired very easily, and I wind up carrying him around most of the time. To say I'm upset about this is an understatement. At least I know has been well taken care of and has had a life full of love.

Dottie, Patrick and I toured a working dairy farm today. Patrick wasn't quite so sure about the farm animals, but it was his first time experiencing something like that. Part of the tour was a hay ride. I promise we really didn't squish him between us like it looks in this picture!

I was happy to see the clouds breaking up this morning. I couldn't help but notice the sky when I got to work and thought it was worthy of today's photo.

Donald spent some time cleaning up the yard in Wilmington today. There are lots of volunteer trees growing that have very deep roots. Here's the best method we have found to get them out; a tow rope and 4 wheel drive vehicle.

It's a new month, so it's time get serious about losing weight. I downloaded an app for my iPhone called Lose It. It is pretty easy to track calories and exercise. Here is today's run down. 1300 calories a day is not a lot.
