I am finally getting around to trying something I've wanted to do for a while; make my own vanilla extract. There's a spice store not too far from home that sells vanilla beans, so I decided it's now or never. A pint of cheap vodka, six vanilla beans and a little time. We'll see how it turns out. And by the way, I think this shop is a chain, so if you've got a Savory Spice Shop anywhere close, you should check it out. It's a very cool store.

Every now and then, when the weather is nice, Donald likes to set the camper up in the driveway. It has been nice enough to sit outside under the canopy, so we decided to take our picture. I'm not particularly fond of how I look. As a matter of fact, this picture is enough incentive for me to start counting calories again.

I think you have to be an elementary school teacher to understand the humor in this photo. I'll do my best to explain. I was working in a classroom today in our year round school. This teacher had the students fill out this form so she could get to know them, and they could get to know each other. Do you see the question, "My pets are ___?". All the other students listed what pets they own, but this child answered "small". I hope whoever this is doesn't lose the different way of looking at the world.

Thug hates thunderstorms. Today, one came up out of nowhere and it just so happened that it happened while Donald was taking him out for his afternoon walk. It was one of those bright lightening flashes immediately followed by loud thunder. Thug was scared out of his wits, and it took him a long time to get over it. When I got home from work, this is what he wanted to do. He stayed this way for about 10 minutes. I guess sometimes even a little dog needs to be comforted.
