This is not the most exciting picture in the world, and it's also a little blurry. But, I was excited to have some ice cream tonight! I've been counting calories lately and was too busy to eat a lot today. I had plenty of calories left over to enjoy this yummy treat!

Houston, we have a problem. The ducklings are stuck and can't seem to get out of the pond. Our principal put some sticks in there to act as a ramp. So far, they haven't figured out how to get out.

There's nothing special about this photo. It's the bloom on a hosta plant in our backyard. What makes it somewhat interesting is that all the other hosta plants have been eaten by the deer. I don't know how they missed this one.

Donald left to run an errand this afternoon, and this is where Thug sat while he was gone, staring at the door. Do you think he missed him?

Are you tired of seeing baby clothes yet? I had to share this one, simply because there's a great story behind it. Jon's mother kept a letter he wrote in the 2nd grade where he stated if he ever had a son he would name him Megatron. Luckily, Jon grew up and no longer wants to name the baby Megatron, and besides, I don't think Dottie would let him anyway. For a surprise, I found a onesie with Megatron on it. I'm going to surprise Jon the next time I see him. Hope he doesn't read this blog.

Remember the other day when I bought all those clothes for the grandbaby? I can't stop buying things now. Look at these cute socks that I found on Amazon!

There is a wild fire burning in Pender County that was started by lightning over the weekend. So far, it has burned about 4000 acres. Weather conditions were prime for the smoke from the fire to reach the Triangle today. It got a little worse after I took this. It really smelled bad.

I think I'm already in the summer lull of photo ideas. Maybe it's because my summer hours started last week, and I'm working 10 hour days. Anyway, here are some little flowers from one of the plants on the back deck.

Happy Father's Day! In honor of this day, here's Donald with his girls. Dottie was able to come in on Friday and spent the weekend with us. It has been a great weekend.

Dottie, Liz and I went shopping this morning. I finally caved in and started buying clothes for the grandbaby. He got a lot of loot!

Tangles graced us with her presence downstairs today. This is the first time she's been down since Liz brought her home. I think what enticed her is the small bag of catnip she's cuddling.

I was completely surprised to see my chives blooming this afternoon. I know you're not supposed to let them bloom, but it's such a pretty little purple flower!

I was back at the school with the killdeer nest today. My co-worker Mary (that's her in the picture) is as enthralled as I am with the birds.

A pair of killdeer have made their nest by the parking lot at school. We've put some traffic cones down to mark the nest so no one bothers it. I got unbelievably close before the mother bird started fussing at me. Once she started making noise. the male bird came running over and started playing the "broken wing" game. I didn't stay long because I really didn't want to upset her too much.

This was our Wilmington weekend, and Donald and I had a chance to go out to the beach for a while this morning. We were highly entertained by this little guy all morning long. He didn't walk anywhere, he ran, and he didn't stop for almost 2 hours. I'm sure he exhausts his parents.

Meet Ernie. He lives next door to us in Wilmington, along with his brother Sheepie. Sheepie is an Old English Sheepdog, and Ernie was a rescue dog with a lot of terrier in him. He's a wild man, as you can tell from the mid air jump.

Donald and I went to the Rex Hospital Open today. We were at the green of Hole 2, when one of the golfers had a ball that didn't quite go where he intended. It landed right beside us. Needless to say, he was not happy.

We must be terrible pet owners. Poor Thug and Tommy. They wanted outside so bad, but we made them stay inside. Pitiful.

My goodness it's been hot outside! Tommy has figured out the coolest spot in the house. Can you see how he's slightly on the AC vent?

My first harvest, such as it is. You can also see I got a little boo boo on my finger. Remember me telling you about the refrigerator? We were cleaning out the cans that exploded and apparently aluminum edges are very, very sharp.

This table used to have a very large glass top. It was impossible to keep clean, and not only that it was huge and took up way too much space. Donald surprised me by making a new top out of recycled wood. Now we have a bistro table on the deck!

These little birds have been very active in our yard today. At one point, there were three of them in a row on this tree. I believe they're red-cockaded woodpeckers, but I'm not positive. They make a funny squeaking sound that's quite distinctive.

Last weekend, when we had Dottie's graduation party, she and I took a trip to the grocery store. On our way there, we noticed a refrigerator at the end of someone's driveway with a sign that read "Free Works". I have enough of my grandfather in me that I called Donald and told him about it. By the time Dottie and I got home, the refrigerator was in our garage. It was great having an extra fridge to store food that night, but the next morning, everything was frozen. We adjusted the thermostat, and went on. We now have the thermostat set on "1", the lowest setting, but things are still freezing as you can see from my entire 12 pack of Seltzer that exploded. I think this fridge is going to take another ride, this time to the landfill.

Tommy is turning out to be quite the social cat. He's downstairs just about all the time now, even when Liz isn't here. He even came to visit me the last two mornings in the bathroom while I was getting ready for work. He clearly has never seen nor heard a hair dryer.
