I peeked out my window at work today, and this little guy was sitting right outside. I took the picture through the window so I wouldn't disturb him. Now I can't stop singing, "When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along."

Spring is springing! A quick walk around the neighborhood showed many trees budding out. I believe this one is a poplar, but I'm not positive.

Donald was out of town last night, and got back late this afternoon. If you can get past the shiny eyes, you'll notice that Thug was almost smiling.

I had the chance to babysit a delightful 9 month old tonight. We had so much fun playing! Here she's enthralled with her Leap Frog table.

My teeny tiny patch of chives made it through the winter. With all the spring-like weather we've been having, it has revived. Or would that be re-chived?

It has been a week of remembering Mr. B. Some memories make us laugh and some make us cry. One of my favorite memories is that he always had a stash of Snickers bars somewhere in the house.

Every time I go through a stressful event, I catch a little cold. Behold my new best friends, Puffs plus and Halls throat drops.

This has been a weekend of reflection, on many different levels. Before we left Wilmington today, Donald, Dottie and I had a chance to have lunch by the water. I noticed my reflection in Donald's glasses and thought that might make an interesting photo of the day.

We had Mr. Bryan's funeral today. It was a bittersweet day with beautiful sunshine. We've been so focused on death that we've hardly noticed that spring is just around the corner. These daffodils surprised us when we got back to the house this afternoon. In the midst of all our sadness, life is good.

Today we had Mr. Bryan's visitation. We actually had it at the facility where Mrs. Bryan lives so she could participate. This flower is part of the arrangement we had in the room.

I was trying to take a picture of the thermometer while I was on my way to Wilmington today. For the record, it was registering 78. Apparently I am focused while driving. Or not.

I still have a peace lily from when my grandmother passed away. I thought it would be a fitting tribute to honor Mr. Bryan today.

We've had amazing weather this week with temps in the 60s. It looks like I'm not the only one longing for spring. I noticed this tree on the dog walk this morning, and had to grab the camera and go back for photos.

Poinsettias live a much longer and healthier life when you actually water them. Maybe it's time to get rid of them.

I'm spending Valentine's Day alone tonight. Behold my Valentine feast, homemade bread, brie and asparagus. Not to mention the laptop, iPad and remote control, all within easy reach.

Donald and I have had a weekend where it was important to work as a team. He had to go to Wilmington to take care of his parents, which left me available to pick Dottie up at the airport after her trip to NYC.

What a beautiful day today! Bright blue skies, sunshine and temps in the 50s. The moon was out early, so I took the opportunity to combine my quest to get a good photo of the moon and the branches against the sky.

With the painting going on in the den, things are in a bit of a disarray, including the dog's toys. Can you imagine his delight when he found them stashed on the chair?

The indoor painting has begun! By the end of this evening, we'll have two walls completed. And by the term "we" I mean "Donald".

I spent some time in the office this afternoon. One of our technicians had this stack of CDs on the window sill. I kind of liked the light shining through them.

Lately I've found that I am fascinated with the silhouettes of trees against the sky. I'm not sure what it is, other than the contrast of the bare branches with the evergreens. You will probably see more as the days go by and maybe they'll be better than this one, which I took from our back deck.

Charlie has borrowed didgeridoo from one of his friends. He brought it in to practice, and Thug doesn't quite know what to make of it!

Donald and I are hosting our own Superbowl party tonight, with just the two of us. You can see our spread, and there are pigs in blankets still in the oven.

We've decided to repaint the den. That means the existing wallpaper needs to come down. Donald worked hard, and I observed.

All morning long we heard a bird singing and chirping outside the media center. And I mean it didn't stop chirping. After lunch I went out with my camera to see if I could find it. I didn't see a nest nor did I see any other birds. I think it was flirting with its reflection!

Thug had a trip to the vet tonight. This sign was hanging in the exam room. I never knew holiday pets were toxic to pets.
