I meandered out to the back yard this afternoon and noticed the sage is blooming. What pretty purple blossoms.

Not the best picture I've ever taken, but I love it! I noticed while I was at work today that there seemed to be a lot of activity on the roof of the next building. So, I grabbed my camera, sat on the steps and waited. Just in the corner, there is a nest with baby birds. (I could hear them, but not see them.) I can only guess this is the mother bird. Something spooked just as she landed. Hope it wasn't me!

There is nothing spectacular about this photo except that I took it a little after 8 tonight. I have felt like I've been in a rut taking pictures lately, they all seem to be the same where I play with the aperture setting. Tonight I decided to practice changing the shutter speed. So, this was taken using a 30 second exposure. I like how you can see the lights from the other houses through the trees.

Relics from my past. The doll on the right is my DZ pledge project. Sam is the manatee puppet that would go home with my students. Each night a different child would take him home and write about their adventures with Sam in the journal. So much fun to go back and read what they wrote!

I decided to plant my garden in pots this year so the deer wouldn't eat it all. Little did I know that some other critter would visit the deck in the night and wreak havoc. What you see here is after the initial clean up. Half the pots were turned over and the poor little plants were strewn across the deck. Sure hope they make it. (And, for the record, I think it was a raccoon.)

This is the boldest squirrel I've ever seen. I can get really close to him before he runs away, and he never runs far, just out of reach. I have also decided there is no such thing as squirrel proof food. The food that is currently in the feeder is full of cayenne pepper. The squirrel loves it. Hmph.

I did not have any intentions of taking more pictures of the azaleas today. However, when I went outside, the bumblebees were having a feeding frenzy on this bush. Do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of a bumblebee?

I have a really bad habit. My shoes leave my feet as soon as I step indoors. Tonight I realized i had a few pairs scattered around the kitchen and den. For those of you who may be counting, let me help you out. There are 9 pairs of shoes. This represents what I've had on my feet for the last two weeks. Oddly enough, the shoes I wear most often are actually in the closet!

Donald and I were back in Wilmington this weekend. Driving down the road, we saw this mailbox and had to go back later to take a picture. The best part is that at the end of the driveway was a handwritten Burma Shave sign.

One of my friends had a bad fall over the weekend and hasn't been able to work all week. I went to see her today, and across the street from her house was a field with donkeys. This little guy was positive I was going to give him a treat.
